The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has warned that any country, including the United Kingdom, that assists the United States in a military operation against Iran will be considered a ‘legitimate target’.

This information was reported in an Al Jazeera article published on Sunday (July 26). It stated that an IRGC spokesperson issued this warning in an interview with Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB. However, the spokesperson’s name was not disclosed.

He said that if the United Kingdom, any country in the Gulf region, or any other state cooperates with a US attack against Iran, those countries will be considered ‘legitimate targets’ of the Islamic Republic.

The IRGC spokesperson specifically mentioned the role of the United Kingdom. He claimed that US B-1 bombers used British airbases during recent attacks on Iran.

He stated, “If they cooperate, they will be our definite and legitimate targets.”

This warning from the IRGC comes amidst ongoing military tensions between Iran and the United States. Earlier, Tehran had stated that it has the capability to respond to any military action.
