Diesel prices in Vietnam have more than doubled since the start of the war in the Middle East. This picture is known from the information published by the Ministry of Commerce of the country on Wednesday. The news agency AFP reported from Hanoi.

According to the information of the ministry, the price of diesel has increased by about 105 percent since two days before the start of the US and Israel attack on Iran on February 26. Last month, the price of diesel per liter was 19 thousand 270 dong. On Wednesday, it was increased to 39 thousand 660 dongs or 1.50 dollars per liter.

At the same time, the price of 95-octane gasoline also increased by about 68 percent. It has increased from 20 thousand 150 dong to 33 thousand 840 dong.

A surge in oil prices after the start of the conflict has increased fuel costs. There is also a fear of energy crisis around the world.

Recently, Vietnam has sought energy assistance from some countries including Qatar, Kuwait, Algeria and Japan. On Monday, the country also signed an agreement with Russia on oil and gas production in the two countries.

On Tuesday, the country’s finance ministry proposed halving the environmental protection tax on petrol and diesel.

Nguyen Van Chi, a resident of Hanoi, said on Wednesday that he had not driven his truck for the past two weeks. Using a bicycle as much as possible.

The 54-year-old businessman told AFP, ‘I can’t even sell my truck at this incredible price of ‘diesel. Because, no one wants to use it.’
