Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated that development activities have already commenced. He announced plans to complete all road and bridge construction in the areas within the next five years. According to his claim, the progress achieved in the last three months is unprecedented, even compared to the Awami League’s 15 years in power.

He made these remarks as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed modern building under the Bhaberchar Rural Market Development Project in Gazaria Upazila, Munshiganj, at 11:15 AM on Saturday (June 20).

He further added that the government is working systematically to accelerate infrastructure development across the country and will implement development activities in line with public expectations.

It is known that construction work for the modern market building in Bhaberchar Rural Market began on July 1, 2024, as part of the nationwide Rural Market Development Project funded by the Government of Bangladesh (GOB). The Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), Munshiganj, implemented the project, which cost over BDT 2 crore 35 lakh 86 thousand (approximately 23.586 million BDT). Swapna Construction Limited completed the construction work.

Also present at the event were Munshiganj-3 Member of Parliament Md. Kamruzzaman Ratan, Sylhet-2 Member of Parliament Tahsina Rushdir Luna, Chief Engineer Md. Belal Hossain, Deputy Commissioner Syeda Nurmahal Ashrafi, Superintendent of Police Menhazul Alam, and Gazaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer Umme Hafsa Nadia, along with other relevant officials.

Later, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir laid the foundation stone for the rehabilitation and development work of the Imamur Union Parishad (Yunus Shikdar) road, extending 2000 meters from the BRAC office in Gazaria Upazila. He also inspected the site for a bridge construction over the Fuldi River in the Rasulpur Bazar area.
